Team Murka Boat Captain and Skipper

Gavin Luxton is the person who knows the most about Team Murka’s yachting division. Responsible for all of the maintenance and logistics for Murka’s Armada, Luxton spends his time assuring the team is well prepared for racing so as to avoid any mechanical or equipment failures during competitive regattas.

Having joined Team Murka two years ago, Luxton’s main responsibilities include the logistics and maintenance of all of Team Murka’s yachts yet mostly focusing on the Swan 45 and sailing aboard the Swan 45 and Swan 48 when an extra pair hands are required.

The best part of the position with Team Murka must be flying around in Team Murka’s new RIB which exceeds speeds of 60 knots! Luxton provides on-water support for Team Murka during regattas especially for the Dragon events.

From the scenic city of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia, Luxton actually did not start racing catamarans and sailboats professionally until he arrived to England. Luxton competed in 5 world championships in the F18 and Hobie Cat classes before retiring his sailing career and starting a local children’s nursery business.

Luxton also cares for his two young children Annabel and Flynn which are the joys of his life and his proudest achievement to date.
